Amazon Seller MCP & Ads Agents for Cross-Border Sellers: What Works, What’s US-Only, HITL Patterns
Cross-border Amazon ops rarely fail because the model is “wrong.” They fail because ads live in one console, inventory in another, and listing health somewhere else — while a chat model happily invents BSR or invents a bid you never asked for.
If you sell from CN, EU, JP, AU, or MX and you’re evaluating Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or a custom agent against marketplace MCP servers, you need a capability map, not a ranked “best AI for Amazon sellers” listicle.
This piece maps three layers — research MCP, account/ops MCP, and Ads MCP — then marks what is still US-first, what writes by default, and which human-in-the-loop (HITL) patterns travel across borders. CrossAgent Lab curates public workflows and vendor docs; we are not affiliated with Amazon.

Three layers of “seller AI”
Treat every connector as answering a different question.
| Layer | What it answers | Typical sources | Risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| A. Marketplace research MCP | Niche, keywords, ASIN comps | SoldScope, AMZScout, Helium 10 research tools, Jungle Scout Cobalt via MCP | Low (usually no Seller Central write) |
| B. Account / ops MCP | Orders, inventory, fees, listing health | Nova MCP; Tirnav-style SP-API tools; Amazon Selling Partner plugin (scoped) | Medium (PII, multi-marketplace auth) |
| C. Ads MCP / Ads Agent | Campaigns, search terms, budgets | Amazon Ads MCP; Helium 10 ads query tools; DIY Ads API pipelines | High if writes are enabled |
Cross-border operators hit a boring but expensive truth: region endpoints, marketplace IDs, and Ads profile IDs are not interchangeable. A US Ads profile does not magically govern EU campaigns. Wire auth per region before you wire prompts.
What works today (with Lab cases)
1. Research-in-chat before you analyze
Feed live market data into the conversation instead of asking the model to “guess” demand.
Also related: Sorftime MCP blue-ocean research.
2. Weekly ads review without auto-bidding
Pull Sponsored Products reports, let an LLM draft bid/budget suggestions, email the digest — humans change bids.
3. Inventory-aware ads questions (read first)
Connect SP-API and Ads API through MCP so the assistant can answer “should I raise spend on this ASIN?” with stock cover in the same context — still as a recommendation until you approve writes.
4. Ops-adjacent loops that still need a human cutoff
Review mining into a product brief, or search-term negatives with seller-set thresholds, keep the model in assist mode:
None of these require inventing ROAS lifts. They require live data + a named approver.
What’s US-only, limited, or easy to misread
Amazon Selling Partner plugin (Claude / Quick)
Announced around Accelerate 2026 (public coverage dated September 2026). Per Amazon’s announcement:
- Beta for sellers in Amazon’s U.S. stores, with international expansion “to follow.”
- Connects listings, inventory levels, sales analytics, and performance metrics into Quick and (beta) Claude.
- Actions require human approval and leave audit trails.
- It does not hold your COGS, freight, duties, or VAT treatment — so “profit after my costs” still needs another data layer (Nova’s public comparison is a useful secondary cite on this point).
“I have Claude Pro” ≠ “I have Selling Partner access.” You still need a Professional selling plan and plugin access (waitlist applies in early coverage).
Official Amazon Ads MCP Server
In open beta for Amazon Ads partners with active API credentials. Public docs describe:
- Natural-language access to Ads API capabilities (campaign create/update/delete, reports, account settings, billing).
- Pre-built workflow tools (e.g. expand a campaign to another locale; end-to-end Sponsored Products campaign setup that still needs review/approval before launch).
- Global availability to eligible Ads API partners — separate from the Selling Partner plugin.
Ads MCP is powerful for campaign workflows. It still needs inventory and true contribution-margin context from elsewhere.
SellerClaw / Athena — forthcoming Lab cases (boundaries)
SellerClaw (sellerclaw.ai): multi-agent store ops with Advisory → Assisted → Autonomous leash levels. Public homepage integrations emphasize Shopify, WooCommerce, CJ Dropshipping, Doba; store-manager copy also mentions eBay. Treat Amazon Seller Central coverage as roadmap unless the vendor’s site says otherwise on the day you ship a case. Lab case forthcoming: sellerclaw-advisory-assisted-autonomous.
Athena by Shoplazza (shoplazza.com/athena): conversational ops inside Shoplazza (products, promos, shipping, order lookup). FAQ: Athena does not auto-apply important create/edit/delete without confirmation — preview, then merchant approve. This is a DTC / independent-site HITL pattern, not Seller Central control. Lab case forthcoming: athena-shoplazza-preview-approve-ops.
Entitlement stack (easy to misread)
SP-API developer apps, Ads API profiles, and third-party MCP plan tiers are separate purchase/auth paths. Stacking Claude + Helium 10 Diamond + Ads API credentials is normal; assuming one login unlocks all three is not.
HITL patterns that travel across borders
Use the same checklist whether you sell on .com, .co.jp, or .com.au:
- Read-only tools first — research MCP and report pulls before any write scope.
- Draft / recommendation tools second — bid suggestions, listing copy, negative-keyword lists.
- Write tools last — with a preview and a named approver.
- Audit log — who asked, which tool, which account / Ads profile / marketplace ID.
- No PII in prompts unless you use restricted tokens and have a real need.
Tirnav’s SP-API + Ads MCP pattern and Athena’s preview-then-approve flow are narrative cousins: one marketplace, one DTC — same control vocabulary.
Mini comparison (public facts only)
Columns reflect what vendor pages stated as of verification date. Where a page did not state a fact, the cell says so.
| Product | Layer | Marketplaces claimed (public) | Write default | Public docs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Selling Partner plugin | B (ops) | US stores in beta; international “to follow” | Actions with human approval (Amazon) | aboutamazon announcement · Claude connector |
| Amazon Ads MCP Server | C (ads) | Global open beta for Ads API partners | Can create/update/delete campaigns via tools; workflow tools still describe review/approval before launch | Amazon Ads open beta |
| Helium 10 MCP | A + C (+ profits/inventory) | Multi-account; exact marketplace list — check vendor docs | Connector tools emphasize query/analysis (keywords, ads query, P&L, inventory); write behavior beyond query — check vendor docs | helium10.com/tools/mcp · Claude connector · GitHub README |
| AMZScout Skill + MCP | A (research) | Multi-marketplace research (vendor materials cite broad Amazon coverage; exact count — check vendor docs) | Research / PPC planning oriented; no Seller Central write claimed on public install pages | AMZScout Claude install · GitHub |
| SoldScope MCP | A (research) | Research tools; SP-API not required for core MCP research | Research-oriented; page allows scoped access levels (read/update/delete) for the SoldScope account — check which tools are enabled on your plan | soldscope.com/solutions/mcp |
| Nova MCP | B (+ ads read) | 23 Amazon marketplaces (vendor page) | Read by default; listing edits only if workspace owner enables; every edit previewed/confirmed; prices and stock levels never changed (vendor page) | novadata.io/amazon-mcp-for-sellers |
| Jungle Scout MCP | A (Cobalt intelligence) | Cobalt-powered category/brand/seller/keyword intelligence; eligibility via Cobalt/CSM | Surfaces marketplace intelligence; agentic “next step” depends on the AI client — check vendor docs for write scope | junglescout.com/products/jungle-scout-mcp |
| Tirnav pattern (DIY SP-API + Ads) | B + C | Whatever marketplaces your SP-API / Ads credentials cover | You choose scopes; Lab case stresses read-first HITL | Lab case |
Still easy to confuse: research MCP credits ≠ Selling Partner plugin access ≠ Ads API partner credentials.
